Following the migration of my old blog to a Hugo based site, I decided not to bring along all my old posts. It has been several years since I posted anything, so much of it is mostly irrelevant now. I have therefore provided a list here of some (not all) of those posts for posterity, along with a brief update where relevant.

2016-06-01 Adding Face Recognition to my Doorbell - this post was from before I moved house. Back then I couldn’t have a wired doorbell so I hooked up a wireless one to a raspberry pi to add some automation. This is where I added some face recognition to it. Now of course, this has been replaced by a Nest Doorbell which already has all of these features. Clearly I was before my time since I wrote that in June 2016 😂.

2016-05-27 Adding Natural Language to my Cisco Spark bot - after being disappointed about going back to nineties IRC commands on chat bots, I decided to take a look at natural language to spice things up a bit. I’m pleased to say that version 3 of this bot is in active use still today with more features having been added over that time.

2016-01-10 New Year, New Org Chart - Visualising organisation data with d3.js - this was an attempt to learn d3.js. Where I work has grown significantly since 2016 and is now on a third iteration of the org chart which is now driven by a new ERP system we had installed (rather than AD from the post). In addition, we have since used d3.js for presenting resourcing data on a dynamic calendar from that same ERP system.

2015-02-25 Lighting a Cisco Jabber Video Call with Philips Hue - this is where I connected my Cisco Jabber softphone to my hue lights in order to provide a better video calling experience from my home office. Again, since I moved, I now have a new, albeit smaller, home office which has white walls and slightly better lighting. In addition, whilst Cisco Jabber is still widely used, I have predominantly moved to using Cisco Webex Teams as my main enterprise messaging client.
